Overview
Returning to Nature
The project began with an analysis of the album’s lyrics, themes and emotional landscape, using them as a starting point to build a new visual interpretation of Worm Food. Among its recurring ideas, the album explores the relationship between impermanence, acceptance and the return to nature — the idea of letting things flow and finding a sense of peace in accepting the natural course of life.
These themes informed the visual language of the project, from the choice of colours and typography to the imagery used throughout the different applications. For the album cover, I chose to work with real earthworms as the central visual element, photographing them directly to create an image that felt tactile, organic and closely connected to the album’s themes.
The worms become a visual metaphor for returning to the earth and accepting the continuous cycle of nature. The photographs were then developed into a flexible graphic system applied across both digital and physical formats, including streaming platforms, LP and cassette packaging, and advertising posters. After the photoshoot, the worms were safely released back into their natural environment.
